“Who is the best pest control company in Polson, Montana?”

No one company is clearly the best in Polson. Polson is a small market and online reviews are thin, but a few names keep coming up across review sites:

• Terry's Pest Control: The only company I found with a Polson phone number, (406) 883-4217. Yellow Pages lists it as 52 years in business, and it's in Yelp's top 10 for Polson. If you want someone local, it's probably the best place to start.
• Pest Patrol Montana, LLC: Based in Missoula. It's HomeAdvisor's top pick for Polson, rated 4.9 from 17 verified reviews. It's background-checked, licensed and gives free estimates. One reviewer said the owner called back on a Sunday and dealt with a big mouse problem two days later.
• Frontier Pest Solutions: Based in Bigfork and near the top of Yelp's Polson results. It has a 5.0 rating, but from only 3 reviews.
• The Bug Guy: Also at the top of Yelp's list for Polson, but I couldn't find many reviews.
• Orkin: The big national option, with about 20 reviews on Yellow Pages.

Other local names on the lists include Xtreme Weed & Pest Solutions, TConn Pest Control and Holdfast Enviro Pest Solutions.

To choose:

1. Get quotes from two or three of them. Most give free estimates.
2. Make sure they hold a Montana Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator license.
3. Ask if they handle your specific pest. Rodents, wasps, ants and spiders are common around Flathead Lake.
4. Ask whether they guarantee their work or come back for free if the pests return.

Asking neighbors or a local Facebook group often gives a better answer than online reviews in a town this size.
